EDT Logbooks & RSA Portals
How does the RSA EDT Logbook work?
When you start your Essential Driver Training (EDT) with RDS Ireland, your instructor will register your progress online. Every completed EDT module is uploaded directly to your official RSA MyEDT portal. You can log into your RSA account at any time to track which modules have been completed and stamped.
Do I need a physical paper logbook?
While the RSA primary tracking system is online via MyEDT, we recommend keeping a physical logbook or digital notes to track feedback from your instructor and practice sessions with your sponsor. Once all 12 modules are completed and uploaded, your EDT completion certificate will be automatically generated on your RSA portal.
What is Reduced EDT, and who qualifies?
Reduced EDT is a shortened 6-module program designed for drivers who hold a full, valid driver’s licence from a country that does not have a licence exchange agreement with Ireland. If approved by the RSA for Reduced EDT, you only need to complete 6 specific modules instead of the full 12.
Payments, Discounts & Bookings
How do advance payment block discounts work?
To avail of our package discounts—€530 for the Full 12-Hour EDT or €275 for the 6-Hour Reduced EDT—payment must be made in full prior to or at the start of your first lesson. Advance payments lock in your discounted rate for the entire course.
Can I pay per lesson instead of upfront?
Yes! If you prefer a flexible pay-as-you-go option, individual 1-hour lessons are €45 and 2-hour sessions are €90.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a scheduled lesson. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee or deducted from your block booking, as that time slot was reserved exclusively for you.
Test Day & Car Rental
Can I use your car for my official driving test?
Yes! We offer modern, dual-controlled manual and automatic car hire for driving tests at the Monaghan, Cavan, and Dundalk test centres.
What is included in the test day car rental package?
Our test day package includes:
A pre-test warm-up lesson right before your scheduled test time to get you focused and relaxed.
Use of our fully insured, dual-controlled car for the duration of your test.
Accompaniment to and from the test centre.
Note: Car hire for the driving test is subject to your instructor’s assessment to ensure you are driving at a safe, test-ready standard.
